A New Age Has McDon'ed On Us

The Aggies returned to action this quarter with two home games against the Portland State Vikings, who made the trip down this year after the Aggies traveled to Oregon last year. The Aggies finished off the previous season with one win and one loss against the Vikings. However, the games played out much differently this time around.

The first game was played Saturday night. It would prove to be a show of force for UC Davis. Kaz Machida, Gunther Schuler, and Gordon Dickson combined for 4 goals in the first period, while only allowing 7 shots against. This would continue through the second period, with Gunther scoring again to complete a hat trick. Keisuke Teeple also scored, and rookie Greg McDonald scored his first goal as an Aggie. In the third, the Vikings showed a late resurgence and fired off 10 shots, but the Aggies held them off with goals from Keisuke and Gordon for a 9-0 victory. Goaltender Niklas Braun completed his first shutout of the season.

Sunday's game at noon would prove much of the same. The game started out with much of the same, with two goals from Keisuke in the first period. In the second, the Vikings would score their first goal of the weekend, but the Aggies would quickly counter with two more from Gordon and Kaz. In the final period, The Vikings stuck again with a bounce off of an Aggie defender, but Keisuke would shine with two more goals to top off a four goal game.

With the two wins, the Aggies improve to 4-5 on the season. Next weekend, UC Davis takes on Santa Cruz and then Santa Clara--the first time either opponent will face the Aggies this season.
