Forward Chris Hamamjy (#88) celebrates a goal against UCSC on Oct. 20, 2017 at Vacaville

Davis, CA- There will be enticing matchups and exciting new additions for the Aggies in the upcoming season, which has been organized by team president and defenseman, Catherine Heyboer (#9).

With the 2018-19 academic year quickly approaching, the UC Davis Aggies ice hockey team is preparing for a successful season both in the win column and in developing the team. The Aggies officially begin practice on October 1st at the team’s home rink, Vacaville Ice Sports. The rink’s address is 551 Davis St. Vacaville, CA.

The departure of several players will have to be filled by a new cohort of freshmen, as well as more ice time for members of last season’s team. In other roster news, goaltender Jordan Byrnes (#30) will be graduating at the end of the fall quarter.

As for games of note, Davis will skate against UC Santa Cruz at least four times, including a game in March at the SAP Center in San Jose. Last season saw three close battles between the Aggies and Banana Slugs, with the Aggies taking two of the decisions. Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend in January will be the annual road trip to Southern California, in which UC Davis will play UC San Diego and Occidental College. The game against Occidental will be played at what is essentially Robert Polon (#18) and Timur Katsnelson’s (#31) home rink, the Valley Ice Center.
